This sculpture was featured in a group exhibition of all Black artists displayed at Superchief Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. "Medusa" is the reimagining of the mythical creature that has become a symbol of sexual and domestic abuse survivors. Using a kinder retelling of the myth, in which Medua is given her "curse" for protection instead of punishment, the piece is meant to bring agency and power back to the myth instead of fear and rejection. The sculpture also depicts Medusa as a black woman as many black women SA and DV survivors are systematically and societially disempowered or ridiculed for their trauma.
